How many hours do you work a day/week

The employer are required to let their employee to work within 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week. If working hours exceed these upper limit, the employer has to pay overtime allowance. This hours doesn’t include break time. Since flexible working hours is not common yet, working hours of most company is between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. In Japan, long working hours has been huge problem which can cause mental and physical health problems. In addition, some companies doesn’t pay overtime allowance and they are caught by labor inspection office.
